Asset
A resource that possesses an economic value and is expected to offer particular benefits in the future. Assets are either owned by individuals, companies, or governments; and can be created or purchased to boost the company’s value or to benefit its operations.

Capital assets (immobilisations)
Tangible assets that are purchased, constructed, developed or otherwise acquired and that are held for use in the production or supply of goods, the delivery of services or to produce programme outputs. They have a useful life extending beyond one fiscal year and are intended to be used continuingly and are not intended for resale in the ordinary course of operations.

Business case
Typically, a presentation or proposal to an authority by an organisation seeking funding, approval or both for an activity, initiative or project that identifies and explores options and develops recommendations for the proposed investment.

Commodities exchange
Similar to the stock exchange where forces of supply and demand meet and prices are determined accordingly. However, it differs from the stock exchange in that it deals with the assets themselves (i.e., the commodities) such as oil, minerals and other commodities.

The country’s ability to depend on various sources of income. For instance, the UAE’s ability to diversify its exports and investments, without depending on oil source solely.
