UAE and Argentina Sign Investment Memorandum to Strengthen Minerals Sector Cooperation

The UAE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Argentina, aimed at fostering collaboration in the development and investment of mineral projects.  

The memorandum is designed to establish a clear and effective framework for promoting investor participation in key projects across both nations, and pave the way for joint ventures and knowledge exchange, with the goal of unlocking new opportunities in the minerals sector. Both nations aim to leverage their respective strengths to drive growth, enhance resource sustainability, and create a more diversified and resilient global supply chain in critical minerals.  

The MoU was officially signed on behalf of the UAE by His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment, and on behalf of the Argentine Republic by His Excellency Gerardo Werthein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship.  

Commenting on the MoU signing, H.E. Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment stated: "This Memorandum of Understanding signifies a pivotal moment in the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships, particularly in the mining and minerals sector. By enhancing cooperation with Argentina, we are not only deepening our bilateral relations but also contributing to the global energy transition. This collaboration will enable both nations to drive sustainable growth, foster innovation in mineral exploration, and promote responsible development in line with climate goals. We are excited to work alongside Argentina to unlock new opportunities for mutual investment and progress."

H.E. Gerardo Werthein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentine, said: "This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening our collaboration with the UAE in the minerals and mining sector, reflecting our shared vision and commitment to innovation and sustainability. Argentina’s vast mineral potential, combined with the UAE’s commitment to innovation and collaboration, creates a strong foundation for driving long-term growth and ensuring a resilient global supply chain."

The two countries will collaborate to form a working group tasked with developing a roadmap for implementation and operationalisation. Priority areas of cooperation will include mineral exploration, technology transfer, education, and research and development.

The UAE and Argentina are committed to deepening their mutual interests and cooperation across various sectors. In recent years, both countries have worked to strengthen their bilateral relationship through agreements aimed at expanding trade and investment opportunities. As both nations continue to diversify their economies, their shared focus on sustainable economic growth and long-term cooperation is laying the foundation for an even more meaningful collaboration in the future.
